Mahmud Bari
Research Fellow

Mahmud Bari

Hailing from Dhaka, Bangladesh, Mahmud is an ardent Buckeye, a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. Prior to joining Jones Mandel, Mahmud worked as a Field Organizer and Coordinator on various Democratic campaigns, from Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), to the Ohio Democratic Party, to Mayor Andrew Ginther of Columbus. In his free time, he can be found jamming to Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band or being terrorized by his two puppies.
Chris Conrad
Research Fellow

Chris Conrad

Chris graduated from Haverford College in Pennsylvania with a degree in Political Science in 2021. Prior to joining Jones Mandel, he worked as a Fellow for the Kevin Baumlin campaign, Research Intern at the Post-Growth Institute, and Peer Tutor at the Haverford College Writing Center. He is passionate about tackling climate change. Chris currently lives in Pennsylvania and enjoys folding origami, reading books, and rock climbing in his free time.
Taylor Holst

Taylor Holst

Taylor joined the Jones Mandel team in 2020 after graduating from New York University with a degree in Public Policy and a minor in Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health Studies. Interested in politics for as long as she can remember, she got her start in the industry as an Organizing Fellow for a mayoral campaign while in college and has been committed to helping elect progressives ever since. Raised in North Carolina, Taylor currently resides in Brooklyn, New York and loves to watch hockey and read comic books in her free time.
Henry Kapp

Henry Kapp

Henry joined the Jones Mandel team during the 2020 election cycle after graduating from Hamilton College with a government degree. Prior to entering political research, he held internships at a government affairs firm and the Jay Gonzalez gubernatorial campaign in his home state of Massachusetts. While he remains an avid Red Sox fan, Henry has since moved to Washington, D.C., where he enjoys running and meeting neighborhood dogs.
Ian Mandel

Ian Mandel

Ian is one of the Democratic Party’s most sought-after research strategists. He has helped dozens of clients win election as governor, to the U.S. Senate, to the U.S. House of Representatives and as president of the United States. Ian is the long-time research consultant for the Democratic National Committee, overseeing the Democratic Party’s public record research. In the private sector, Ian has used the research and communications tactics and strategies honed over years in politics to help businesses, law firms and organizations achieve their goals. His private sector clients range from Fortune 100 companies, to privately-held health care and renewable energy businesses. For both his political and non-political clients, Ian offers a strategic research approach that solves problems, while positioning clients to succeed and prepare for all contingencies. A native of New York, Ian attended Hamilton College and lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and three children.

Claire Simon

Claire graduated from NYU in 2019 with a degree in Media Studies. She started her career in communications, driving media coverage to nonprofits and advocacy groups. In 2020, she joined the Biden Presidential campaign in the paid media department, supporting the team in production, analytics, and media buying. She also volunteered in the campaign's vetting and policy departments. She joined Jones Mandel in 2021, where she has worked to elect Democrats nationwide. She lives in Michigan and loves tennis, dogsitting, and meticulously updating her GoodReads account.
Lindsay Steinberg
Senior Associate

Lindsay Steinberg

Lindsay joined Jones Mandel in 2020 after graduating from the University of Maryland with a degree in public policy and a double minor in nonprofit leadership and sustainability. Before entering the world of Democratic politics, Lindsay interned at several nonprofit organizations advocating for climate action and animal welfare. Lindsay recently moved from Pennsylvania to Northern Virginia and enjoys running and going to concerts in her free time.
Adam Brody

Adam Brody

Adam joined the Jones Mandel team in 2021. Previously, he worked as a Field Representative for the Progressive Turnout Project, knocking on doors and making phone calls to mobilize voters during the 2020 election cycle. His varied job history also includes experience as a professional actor, Census enumerator, music teacher, college consultant, and tutor. Originally from Massachusetts, Adam graduated from Northwestern University in 2018 and currently lives in Chicago.
Kelly Dodd

Kelly Dodd

Kelly started her career in the place she grew up: Virginia. With the election of Trump, she jumped feet first into the campaign world and joined the Tom Perriello campaign for Governor. After the Virginia primary, she joined Senator Elizabeth Warren's Senate campaign through 2018 then continued working for the Senator during her 2020 Presidential with a focus on self-research and rapid response. She wrapped the 2020 campaign cycle as a Research Desk with House Majority PAC handling dozens of congressional districts key to protecting the House. She currently lives in DC with her dog Biscuit and looks forward to working with a range of races at Jones Mandel and help elect more Democrats.
Eddie Ives

Eddie Ives

Eddie graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2021 with a degree in Political Science and Psychology. While at WashU, he was the Director of Communications for an environmental justice organization and conducted experimental research on the relationship between the confidence and accuracy of eyewitnesses in criminal investigations. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Eddie recently moved to Washington D.C. to join Jones Mandel and kick-start a career in Democratic politics.

Jonah Kasdan

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jonah graduated form Johns Hopkins University in 2020 with a degree in Environmental Studies and International Studies. After graduating, he worked as an environmental field organizer on a number of campaigns throughout the country, including a get out the vote campaign in support of Democratic candidates in the 2021 election. He also has worked on an organic farm in Maryland, and as a researcher and project coordinator a sustainable food nonprofit. He recently moved to Washington D.C. to join Jones Mandel, and enjoys cooking, watching sports, and biking around the city.
Elizabeth Naddler

Elizabeth Nadler

Elizabeth graduated from Duke University with degrees in Engish, German and theater studies, finding politics when she started as an organizing fellow with the Hillary Clinton campaign. She went on to intern with Adalah - The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, the TEAM, and Rock the Vote prior to starting at Jones Mandel during the 2018 election cycle. Since then, Elizabeth has led self and opposition projects for clients on the state and national level. She is a proud Jersey knucklehead, and currently lives in Los Angeles with her dog Evie and her kitten Schmutzy.
Lauren Smith
Principal

Lauren Smith

Lauren has nearly a decade of experience working in opposition research and vetting. Prior to joining Jones Mandel in 2018, she served as the Research Director for the Obama White House’s Office of Presidential Personnel (PPO) from 2015 through 2017. In this capacity, she helped vet individuals under consideration for high-profile Presidential appointments throughout the federal government and trained PPO staff on background vetting.

In 2014 and 2015, she served as the Deputy Research Director for Rapid Response for the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Prior to that, she served as the Northeast Regional Research Analyst for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, where she provided strategic research and policy guidance to over 20 top-tier congressional campaigns.

In the 2012 cycle, Lauren served as Deputy Research Director for Tim Kaine’s Senate campaign in Richmond, Virginia. She previously worked for Kaine in the Chairman’s Office at the DNC.

She began her career at Struble Eichenbaum Communications, a media consulting firm that produced television and radio ads for Democratic candidates.

Bryan Walters

Bryan Walters

After graduating with a BA in Politics from UC Santa Cruz in 2016, Bryan began his career at an expert network startup based in the San Francisco Bay Area. While there, he researched business-critical issues affecting client operations and identified and vetted top experts in relevant fields. He joined Jones Mandel in 2020 and has worked on a variety of races nationwide, helping to elect more Democrats. He was born and raised in the Bay Area, where he still lives, and is a fan of the San Jose Sharks, Liverpool FC, and the San Francisco Giants.
Evan Cook
Director

Evan Cook

Evan joined Jones Mandel during the 2018 election cycle. An experienced researcher, Evan has led self and opposition research projects for clients and campaigns doing political work in over a dozen states. Prior to entering political research, Evan graduated with a Master's Degree in Public Policy from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor's Degree in History from Gannon University. Evan is a native Ohioan, and currently lives on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. with his foxhound, Chloe.
Toni Baptiste

Elias Garcia

Before joining the Jones Mandel team in 2022, Elias worked in the legal world, specializing in criminal defense and immigration. While he found the work fascinating, Elias’ true passion lay in political advocacy. He has volunteered for several election campaigns such as the Bernie Sanders 2020 primary campaign and the 2020 Carson mayoral race. During the Black Lives Matter movement, Elias founded a local organization and served as its Head of Communication. These experiences, when combined with his politically focused Philosophy degree from UCSD and experience in online marketing, serve to make Elias a well-rounded researcher. Elias likes to keep busy though; in addition to his advocacy work, he hosts poker nights and throws esoteric parties, dances and watches niche movies, reads fiction and philosophy, plays Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, hikes around beautiful California, and occasionally finds time to write. If you ever need to find him, try the late-night coffee shops of San Diego. And when you find him – pull up a chair. All are welcome at Elias’ table.
Benjamin Jones

Benjamin Jones

Benjamin fell in love with the energy, excitement and passion of campaign politics during the successful re-election of his home state Governor, Zell Miller. Since then, he has steadily worked in several capacities and built three consulting firms over 27 years. His wide-ranging professional experience includes: political campaign consulting, crisis communications research, issue management, competitive intelligence for corporations, non-profits and issue groups. Today, Ben is driven by running a successful company, building great teams, solving problems for clients and introducing research to a new generation. Ben has a masters degree from George Washington University and lives in Seattle with his wife, 3 kids and dog Mudd. When not working, you will find Ben with his family at an event for one of his middle school kids, walking the dog, at the gym, playing golf, reading or attempting some new outdoor activity with patient friends and family.

Andrew Koch

Andrew graduated from the University of Kansas in 2021 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Intelligence & National Security Studies. Before entering into research, Andrew volunteered for several Democratic campaigns and interned for Representative Emanuel Cleaver before becoming a congressional fellow in his office. He lives in Kansas City and loves producing music, playing poker, and hanging out with his cat, Maria.

Saisha Rattan

Saisha joined Jones Mandel during the 2022 midterm election cycle. Prior to entering political research, Saisha graduated from Rollins College in Florida with degrees in Economics and Public Policy. She also interned on the Hill in the Office of Congresswoman Murphy (D-FL) and worked as a Tutor at the Rollins College Tutoring and Writing Center. She is passionate about economic justice. Saisha currently lives in Arlington, Virginia and enjoys playing with her dogs Biscuit and Ginger in her spare time.

Chelsea Summers

Chelsea graduated from the University of Georgia with degrees in Political Science, International Affairs, and Economics while getting involved in student organizations on-campus. Before joining Jones Mandel, she interned on the Hill with Congressman David Scott's office. She lives in Georgia and enjoys going on walks and watching movies in her spare time.
